Saturday afternoon was the kind of day that I will call to mind on when I’m having a challenging day. It was PERFECT!
My family and I celebrated May 21, 1956 – my wife’s 60th. (If you know her, you are in disbelief, I know. She definitely doesn’t look 60 ) Our 6 kids, 4 daughters-in-law, 1 son-in-law and 5 grand kids met Marilyn and me at a nearby park and threw a terrific party for Mom and Grandma. Except for the homemade ice cream that I was in charge of making, I got to just enjoy it with her. The kids were amazing! The weather was perfect and except for being sore from playing too much kickball, we recovered pretty well.
We both agreed that there was little that could be done that could have made it a better day in every way. It was PERFECT!
I am thankful that the Lord gives us events such as this one amidst some of our more trying days. I realize that life stretches each of us. It’s actually supposed to. Jesus even said that it would, remember?
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33
But when we get to enjoy a day without trouble. I really see it as a gift from God. A blessing from the Giver of all that is good. Days that are just full of fun, and connections and laughter with nothing else added have a way of standing out.
“God’s blessing makes life rich; nothing we do can improve on God. Proverbs 10:22 – The Message
“Thank you Lord for a wonderful birthday party with the fam! Happiness was everywhere and the timing for all of us was great. In fact, it was PERFECT!”
Something to think about.
