Serving eastern Iowa…with you!

By:

In Matthew 25, Jesus shared an amazing illustration of what it means to serve him.  He said that when we serve “the least of these brothers and sisters of mine”, it’s just like serving Jesus himself.

“For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.”

This is our goal for 2017, that we will work together to serve Jesus by serving “the least of these.”  Our first project is already underway, our Fresh Year – Fresh Start initiative.  We’re encouraging our listeners to purchase a Bible for an inmate here in eastern Iowa.  Our hope is that in reading God’s Word, some of the recipients would make a fresh start in their lives, in the power of God’s love.

Imagine for a moment that Jesus is right here physically, standing in the same room with you.  Is there anything you wouldn’t do for him?  Of course not.  But Jesus IS right here with us physically…except he’s in disguise.  He’s disguised as a man or woman in jail for theft or drug possession.  Will you serve Jesus by serving this prisoner?  An easy-to-read Bible, also filled with devotional thoughts, might be just the thing that helps a person want a fresh start to their lives, this time with Jesus at the center of their lives.

Just $10 will provide a Bible, with a personal message from you, to someone in prison here in eastern Iowa.

Thanks so much for listening to Life 101.9, and we wish you many blessings in this coming year!
