As I write this, it’s supposed to be in the 60’s today with record high temps predicted for the next five days. But don’t be fooled, I tell myself. We’re not out of the water yet. It could snow 8 inches in March. It’s just too early to be convinced that it’s spring.
Sometimes life for the believer is like this.
We have those hopeful times when we handle days with wisdom and grace. Yet about the time we think we’ve figured out life and see things clearly, we get hit with a blizzard of confusion; an icy blast that demonstrate our fragility and our need to abide.
The good news is that as we grow in our faith, there are more good days than difficult ones. It’s not that we don’t have as many trials. Sometimes in fact as we age, we experience more challenges than when we’re young. However as we grow in Christ, we become more convinced of his faithfulness. It’s our attitude toward the storms of life that makes it possible to rest in his divine presence. “God’s got this”, we tell ourselves. And that’s what matters.
The bible calls us “blessed” as we learn to abide. It doesn’t mean the storms don’t create friction but their harm is buffered by the knowledge that God has got your back. James 1:14 says this. “Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.”
It’s gonna be sunny and 65 today but a storm’s coming. Will you be ready?
Something to think about.
