Last month, we asked our listeners to help provide Bibles for inmates here in eastern Iowa. I was hoping we’d get, maybe, 100 or so Bibles. Guess what? You provided enough for 508 Bibles! Your generosity will be felt in the lives of people throughout eastern Iowa for years to come, as the Word of God touches the hearts and lives of the recipients. You provided for “the least of these”, just as Jesus himself encouraged us in Matthew 25.
We are in the process of distributing these Bibles to a variety of organizations. A number of county jails will receive Bibles, including Black Hawk, Bremer, Linn, Johnson, and Dubuque counties, as well as sending some to the Anamosa State Penitentiary. The chaplains I’ve spoken with have all wanted me to pass along their thanks to you for making such a generous donation. In fact, one of the chaplains told me that some of the inmates listen to Life 101.9 in their cells and heard about the Bible drive. They were very appreciative that they were being thought of in this way.
We are continuing to think of some more practical ways that we can work together to live out Jesus’ words in Matthew 25. As we share these with you in the coming months, I am convinced that you will continue to serve Jesus by serving the least of these.
It is a joy to serve God with you here in eastern Iowa! May you experience, and pass along, God’s unconditional love today!
