I don’t know what it is about the times we’re living in, but I’ve noticed that a lot of people are freakin’ out right now.

There appears to be a number of reasons for the anxiety but most of their troubling moments can be summed up in this. They are going through some kind of change that they don’t like and are either resisting it, trying to change it, complaining about it (which makes it worse) or running from it.

Mostly though, they are just not coping very well. I’ve been there more times than I can count. How about you?

When this happens, it’s time to go to the “Great Physician” for a chill pill.

Chill pills from heaven are designed just for anxious moments that we all face from time to time.

Here are a few of my favorites:

“Be still and know that I am God.” Psalm 46:10

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7

and then there’s John 14:27…

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”

(Just reading through these brings my blood pressure down, how about you?)

No matter what you’re anxious about at this moment, Jesus says, “take a chill pill.” In fact, take several of them.

After all, you can’t overdose on them but they just might become habit forming!

Something to think about.
