I go to the movies nearly every week. I know people who watch several movies a week if you count rentals and theatre attendance. That’s not me but I do see my share of ’em and I usually go to the movies. I rarely rent one.
I’m especially movie prolific in the summer. For me, the movie theatre is an easy way to get out of the heat for a few hours if I don’t feel like going to the pool.
(What am I saying? I never feel like going to the pool.)
OK, so Megan Leavey is the best movie I’ve seen this summer so far. That says a lot because I really liked Wonder Woman. Don’t snicker. I’ll admit it. I’m a sucker for DC and Marvel movies. I was a comic book guy in grade school and super hero flicks are a way to relive my childhood.
“To the Bat Poles, Robin!”
Back to Megan Leavey.
It’s a movie about a lady marine and a war dog named Rex. Don’t want to spoil it for you. Just go see it or be sure you rent it when it comes out. A brief disclaimer. It’s got one fairly intense war scene, some language and a brief sexually charged moment but if you can wade through that, you’ll find a well-written story line and a pretty good performance by Kate Mara who plays the lead role. The magic though is all about that special bond between dog and master.
Check it out if you’re looking to change up the way you beat the heat. After all, how many times can you do a cannonball off the high dive?
Megan Leavey. Number 1 for now, but beware. Spiderman Homecoming opens July 7th.
Something to think about.
