According to leading retailers, Thanksgiving has relatively limited retail value so as you would expect, it gets relatively little “shelf space” in stores. Halloween is a biggie however. And though it’s not technically a holiday, people are sure willing to spend the money on it. Apparently there’s not much profit to the retail community in being thankful, yet at the same time, it is profitable to us as followers of Jesus.
The joy of the Lord is ours when we cultivate a thankful heart and it doesn’t cost us a dime. Nothing stokes joy from within like recounting the ways that God has blessed us, wouldn’t you agree?
Maybe we should make a list. If nothing comes to mind right away, we can always start with THE BIG ONE. How about Salvation from the power of sin and death? It doesn’t get any better than that. And great as it is to be saved, our benefits in Christ extend beyond salvation.
Just think how God directed you when you weren’t even aware of his leading. He’s protected you, blessed you and lead you to higher ground time and again. Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! Forget not all of his benefits!
Here at the station, you’re on our blessing list. You’ve blessed us with your partnership and we’re grateful for you. Because you get what’s happening here at Life 101.9, and you’ve responded by supporting this ministry, together we get to share in the joy of changed lives.
During this month of Thanksgiving, I hope you will take time to feel the love and admiration we feel toward you. God is doing something here. You know it, I know it and so does Theresa:
“I have Life 101.9 on all day in my office (I’m a middle school secretary). One day a 7th grader came in for something & asked me what kind of music I was listening to. I responded, “Christian music”, half-expecting him to roll his eyes. Instead, he said, “Is it 101.9?” & I asked him if listens to the station a lot, to which he replied, ‘Only when I’m scared.’ This really touched my heart – the music & message makes such an impact on all age groups.”
Indeed it does Theresa.
Have a thankful November.
