A wise old sage once said that if you want to improve your attitude that it all starts with an assessment of what you put into your mind. You need to give yourself a “check up, from the neck up”. Apparently, a positive mental attitude starts with feeding your mind those thoughts that are true and edifying.
This makes sense and it’s totally biblical. Proverbs 4:23 says, “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.”
“Above all else” is a pretty strong admonition. It’s like the writer of proverbs is trying to tell us that of all the things he has written in this wonderful book of wisdom, that to “guard your heart” is absolutely the most important thing to remember. So this begs the question…
What’s in your heart?
Or more specifically, what are you putting into your mind on a daily basis? If you’ve become negative in your thought process leading you to gossip, complain or even just use coarse language, it may be time for a “check up from the neck up.” If your attitude has been in a slump, perhaps you should feed it healthier food.
Something to think about.
