In a day and age where entertainment options are everywhere you look, I was challenged the other day by what our mission statement says, and what it doesn’t say. It reminded me of the importance of getting back to the basics as we prepare for Share.

Check it out:

Northwestern Media exists to lead people to Christ and nurture believers in their spiritual growth through Christ-centered media.

One thing is clear from reading it through a few times. Though listeners may be entertained by gifted musical artists featured on Life101.9, entertainment for it’s own sake is not the goal. The reason we exist primarily is to point the way to Christ and secondly to encourage Christian brothers and sisters to grow in their faith.

Life 101.9 music speaks of the attributes of God: his love, his goodness, his faithfulness and mercy. Sometimes it’s easy to forget that God is not a man that should fail us with fickle promises that fall short.

Quite the contrary. God can be trusted. His word is an anchor to the soul. The music we play should make you curious to know more about who God is and how he relates to his creation. And we hope you let that curiosity compel you to read his Word, commit yourself to a local assembly of believers who seek his Kingdom together and grow in your faith by listening to well-respected bible teachers such as the one’s heard on My Faith Radio, our sister station.

God wants us to grow up, to know the whole truth and tell it in love—like Christ in everything. We take our lead from Christ, who is the source of everything we do. He keeps us in step with each other. Ephesians 4:15 – The Message

Entertained though you may be, know that our most basic goal is to see you grow up in your relationship to Jesus Christ. As we head into fall share 2018, I pray you will join on this journey by supporting the work of Life 101.9.

Something to think about.
