Jesus said to rejoice when we’re persecuted.
Matthew 5:11-12 “Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.”
It’s tough enough to undergo persecution, but it’s even harder to “rejoice” when it happens.
Fact is, the New Testament often calls us to rejoice when life seems to go wrong.
Can we say being a Christian in a very non-Christian world can make it even harder? Perhaps.
But here’s the deal, don’t give up and don’t be discouraged if others dislike you because you make a stand for God. God sees that you are following him. Your reward lies in Heaven and that is much greater than the temporary rewards on Earth.
The blessing is NOT in the suffering but in its promised outcome, our reward is great in Heaven.
Suffering for righteousness is great evidence that the Kingdom is ours He has given.
