(At the time  this post was written, the pretty “bundle” you see here, was just moments from arriving so I couldn’t resist adding a picture since. Grandpa”s privilege!)

In just a few hours, I will be a Grandpa for the fourth time.  I am excited.  The long anticipated Emery Ann Calcara will soon be here.  There have been signs of her coming all week.  Regular contractions. Occasional kicks to the tummy. You know, the stuff that makes the anticipation really fun!  (I don’t know if it’s more fun for me or my son and daughter-in-law but it’s close!)

Emery has been signaling her appearance all week and suddenly the time for her arrival has come.

It is interesting that Paul compares the sudden arrival of Christ’s second coming to the sudden arrival of a child.  And unfortunately, many will not be ready for it.  See 1 Thessalonians 5.

There have been signs all around us that point to the soon coming of our Lord. Have you noticed?

I am not about to make a prediction as to when, by the way. The Bible declares that exactly when he will arrive is unknowable – Matt. 24:36.

Paul in the Thessalonians passage wasn’t making a prediction either, but he was admonishing the reader to be “sober and alert” and live our lives ready at all times for his appearing whenever it happens.

Emery’s coming any minute…So is our Lord.

Me?  I’m looking forward to both!

Something to think about.
