Last night I participated in an evening of worship and prayer. It was put on by the nearly 50 churches and ministries that together comprise the Serve The City coalition.

This same group had a powerful influence of healing and service to those in Linn County who suffered greatly at the hands of the Flood of ’08. Since that time, STC has continued to look for ways to bring value and healing to our community in other practical ways.

Twice a year, we gather to praise and worship Jesus, our Messiah, Lord and King.

What a wonderfully diverse expression of worship we enjoyed as we sang to the Lord and prayed through the attributes of true love is spelled out in Corinthians 13: 4-8.

It has seemed to me of late that the Holy Spirit is bringing Jesus’ prayer for the unity of the church expressed in John chapter 17 to fruition and this was a perfect example of how it’s being manifested here in Iowa.

(Read John 17: 20-21 and tell me if you don’t agree that God is bringing unity to the Church in various places throughout the world. Then post your comments below. I’d love to read your thoughts.)

I am truly looking forward to the next time we get together on Palm Sunday Evening, April 14, 2014.

I hope you will circle your calendar on that date and plan to be with us.

Something to think about.
