Spring training has started in Arizona and Florida and I couldn’t be more ready.
In the words of JC Fogarty, “Put me in coach…I’m ready to play!”
Now whether you love baseball or not, you got to love spring training if only it serves as a reminder to you and me that spring in Iowa can’t be far behind.
Winter has gone on long enough, don’t you think?
And speaking of a long Iowa winter, did you know that there is an antidote for long winter weariness that can warm your heart better than a hot cup of cocoa in an Eastern Iowa blizzard? It’s as simple as taking the time daily to bathe in his promises which never freeze over regardless of the temperature.
Letting the very Spirit of the living Lord renew you with his love and his Word, regardless of the weather, is not difficult. It just takes you, your Bible and an attitude of intentionality to make it happen no matter what – in other words, you have to resolve to take time to sit with Him and let his love and presence breathe life into your numb and weary spirit.
Another way to warm your heart with joy is simply to gather with a fellow believer for fellowship at least periodically and proclaim to one another his magnificent blessings.
In the 15th chapter of Romans, we read:
“May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had, so that with one mind and one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.” Romans 15: 5-6.
We have much to be thankful for Brothers and Sisters. Let’s recount his many blessings daily and gather often to proclaim them to one another. It is a great antidote to lift us from the winter doldrums.
Spring is coming…so is baseball’s “Opening Day.” (Frankly, I can’t wait.) But I am so thankful that I have a chance to let Spring enter my heart day by day, as I meet with him often.
Something to thing about.
