If you receive a wedding invitation – put the RSVP in the mail the day you get it. You know if you’re going or not.

You may be waiting for those replies to come in for your spring or summer wedding like I am and I have to say…getting married this time is so different. I had a beautiful wedding when my late husband and I got married so many years ago but I just feel more confident and so much more present as Tim and I are planning our big day together.

Had a blast with the cake tasting and picking out a beautiful and affordable cake. The baker said after we were done that he loved working with as I called myself a “later in life” bride because “you know what you want and  don’t bring in Pinterest boards filled with things you can’t afford.” Did you know there are bakeries that will charge you $57 a slice in New York and California??? He also said he had just met with a couple in their 80’s who had picked out their wedding cake. Love is ageless.

The dress journey has been quite a story from almost “settling” to finding THE DRESS. As I walked into one store a young lady came up to me and said “You must be the mother of the bride!” and I’m like, “Nope I’m the BRIDE!” One lovely lady jumped out of the dressing room and said “You go girl! It’s your day so make it spectacular and don’t let anyone tell you can’t.” That’s why our wedding will be God centered and will also involve leopard print, flamingos and a David Crowder song.

Also this time my fiance and I spent 2 months in pre-marriage classes at our church and really learned how to communicate and appreciate each others differences  – and most of all to keep Christ at the center of our marriage. I also love that we love our pastors who are performing the ceremony; it’s not someone that was randomly chosen because they were “ordained” on the internet. We wanted a scripture that testifies to that – so when we exchange our vows in a few weeks, we chose  1 John 4  16 – 19 which reads in part:  “…and so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love.  There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.  We love because He first loved us.”

Now, go put that RSVP in the mail~
