There’s two new movies in theaters this weekend you may consider seeing this weekend: one for adults and one aimed toward kids.

“Interstellar” follows the story of the near future, where the earth is becoming uninhabitable due to a blight that’s killing all crops (except corn: yay Iowa!). A group of astronauts leaves Earth on a search for a new planet to settle on.  The film is visually stunning and includes some great themes about family, sacrifice, courage, and a father’s love for his kids. On the flip side, there’s some profanity including harsh ones, so Bob gave it a 3 out of 5 for family friendliness.

On the kids front, Disney’s new film “Big Hero 6” follows a boy and the marshmallow looking robot his older brother built before he died. The two band together with some of his older brother’s friends to fight a supervillian.  This movie has a lot of great themes again about family, friendship, healing and self-sacrifice permeate the film. There’s some high action peril, which might be concerning for really young kids, but Bob gave it a 4 1/2 out of 5 for family friendliness.
