Two new films hit theaters on Christmas Day that have potential for families according to Bob with Plugged In. We chatted this morning about “Into the Woods” and “Unbroken”. Bob says both movies got a 3 1/2 out of 5 for family friendliness.

“Into the Woods” is based on a Steven Sondheim play of the same title and follows a baker and his wife along with a variety of other characters as many fairy tales you know get mashed together in unusual ways.  Bob says there’s some great family themes and the music is excellent, but Johnny Depp’s character of the Wolf gets kind of creepy in the way he goes after Little Red Riding Hood.

The other film is “Unbroken” which follows the story of Louis Zamperini through is life as an Olympian, war hero, and prisoner of war.  While there are some difficult scenes to watch involving torture, Bob says if you have older teens, this is definitely a film worth seeing.
