Once again the questions of Godly intimacy, romance and love are being raised as many anticipate the first movie release of the best selling book series 50 Shades Of Grey. I’ll admit I’ve been surprised to find the number of Godly women I know that have read the series. I’ll also admit that I have not. I find there are far too many voices in our culture that are trying to speak into foundational values of love and intimacy. It’s like the adage of too many cooks in the kitchen messing up the stew to me. As 1 John 4:7-8 says “Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.” If God IS love, He seems like the perfect place to start in trying to figure out our intimacy issues.
That said, if you’re looking to define and discern the foundational values of love and intimacy in your life, here’s an offer not to be missed.
The organization Authentic Intimacy is offering to “trade your shades”. Anyone who sends in a copy of the book 50 Shades of Grey will in return receive a free copy of Pulling Back the Shades. This book addresses God’s design for intimacy, and shows why others may just be exploiting women’s longings rather than satisfying them. You can even check out the first full chapter before making your trade.
