Many families in Eastern Iowa have kids who have special needs. And the organization Up With Families is working to encourage those families. The Up With Families weekend starts April 8th in Waterloo, providing education and activities for families, plus a “date night” for parents who might not otherwise get to have time away to themselves because of the needs of the child.
There are a few ways you can get involved. You could volunteer for the Up With Families weekend to be a caregiver for one of those kids so their parents can get a break. If you’re interested, you can email Up With Familes here.
But you could also get out this weekend for some bowling with your family. The bowling event is at Cadillac Lanes in Waterloo on Sunday March 6th from 1pm-5pm. The cost is $10 for shoe rental and two games, and the proceeds benefit Up With Families so the families who attend can do so free of charge.
Ronda and Crystal, two ladies who work with Up With Families, stopped by the studio to talk with the Morning Show about Up With Families, their bowling event, and how you can make a difference for these families in need of support. You can listen to the audio below.
We started by asking them about Up With Families.
