Are you busier than ever? As much as we would love to be able to slow down a little bit, it seems like life has a way of keeping us moving these days. If you want to get the most out of your day, a good morning routine can help get your day headed in the right direction. I was reading an article today about some things you should avoid when you first wake up, and to be honest, I’m not sure I like a few of them! The suggestions include:
– Avoid the snooze button! I know, it’s so tempting…just a few more minutes of sleep! Health experts say allowing your body to go back into a deep sleep cycle for just a few minutes will actually make you feel more sluggish in the long run. They say the best thing to do is just set your alarm for the time you actually need to get up instead of setting it early so you can hit the snooze a few times.
– Avoid your email! Many of us have our smart phones on our night stand, so they’re easy to access first thing in the morning. But bringing yourself into work, problems and other stresses so early in the day can affect your attitude in a negative way. They say it’s best to give yourself some time to wake up before you start to tackle your inbox.
