We are in the thick of Summer and that means the heat is here.

There are many great ways to try to beat the heat.  Of course experts recommend drinking lots of water, limiting time outside, wearing light weight loose fitting clothing, taking breaks and the hardest one of all avoiding caffeine. That last one is maybe too hard for some of us.  All of those are great ideas.  Many people choose to go to the pool, run through the sprinkler or just avoid the out doors all together.  One of my all time favorite ways to cool off on a hot day is with an ice cold Popsicle.  I’ve always loved them.  The ones you get at the grocery store are great but usually packed full of sugar.  Recently I’ve started making my own Popsicles and they are delicious.

I have tried quite a few popsicles but some of my favorites include Strawberry, yogurt and mango. I’ve also tried some coffee popsicles which are amazing but don’t help with the avoiding caffeine. They are so simple and easy!  You can pick up a plastic mold at most grocery stores.  Then just simply try things you know you already like and freeze them.

Beat the Heat Popsicle Recipes

Must Have Mango

  • Mango Juice

For this popsicle I simply take my favorite mango juice I drink for breakfast frequently and poured it into the popsicle mold. I let the mango juice sit in the mold in my freezer overnight and the next day I have ice cold Must Have Mango popsicles.

Summertime Strawberry Lime

  • 1 cup sliced strawberries
  • 1¾ cup limeade

Very simple recipe here.  Just blend together the strawberries and the limeade and pour in your popsicle mold.  If you’re feeling adventurous, put in whole strawberry slices to add texture.  Let sit overnight in the freezer.

Yummy Yogurt & Strawberry

  • 2 cups sliced strawberries
  • 1 cup pineapple
  • vanilla yogurt

Blend together the strawberries and pineapple.  Layer the strawberry mixture with yougurt until the mold is full.  Let freeze overnight and enjoy!

All of these are so simple and easy!  I love making homemade popsicles.  You know what went into them and they are so refreshing.  I hope these inspire you to create your own for your family to enjoy!
