Did you know that baseball is the first sport referred to in the Bible? In Genesis 1 it says, “in the BIG INNING, God created the heavens and the earth…

(drum fill, “padoonk, chink!”)

OK, the Bible doesn’t actually mention baseball, but it does reference “small beginnings.” In Zechariah we read, “Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin…”

And since we’re on the topic of “small beginnings”, I want to give a special shout out to those listeners who made a small beginning this past week. Even though over half of our listeners never support us, there were those who did make a first time gift during Fall Share. Undaunted by the distractions of life, they “broke through the noise” and made a decision to participate in what God is doing through music that offers hope. If you are one of those rookie givers, thank you for your gift!

Let me also give some love to those long time veterans to this ministry who continue to stand with us to uplift Eastern Iowa. Every time we hear from one of you during Share, it makes us smile that we have faithful friends like you who understand what God is doing.

It takes both rookies and veterans to make this ministry strong. Together we are all uplifting Eastern Iowa with music that brings hope and changes lives. Like the song says, “God is on the move today! Hallelujah.”

Finally, I want to give praise to the Lord that the flood this past week did minimal damage. There were those unfortunate few who saw their property flooded and I don’t want to make light of this but it could have been worse to be sure. Thanks to the many who served high risk neighborhoods with the physically demanding work of sandbagging.

When tragedy strikes, it always reminds me how very fragile life is. If you know someone who suffered loss this past week, please be open to the opportunities the Lord would bring.

Blessings to you for giving us a good start this year. Have a great October.
