What is a leader? Is it someone who is assigned a task and oversees the execution of it? Or is a leader more than that? I suggest that a leader is not just the person at the top. Leadership often comes from those in the group who have vision. The best definition of leadership that I’ve ever heard comes from leadership guru John Maxwell. According to John, leadership is influence. Nothing more, and certainly nothing less.
I used to confuse leadership with management but it’s so much more. It is about making a difference. It’s about seeing your task differently and therefore, acting differently. It’s about changing the culture of an organization. Leaders are easy to spot. They are the ones that stick out in the group because they understand what could be and resolve to make it so.
The Global Leadership Summit is hosted by the Willow Creek Association and was originally founded by Willow Creek Church Senior Pastor Bill Hybels. It’s broadcast live by satellite from Willow Creek Church in Chicago and shown exclusively at selected locations around the US and around the world. Attendees enjoy two jam packed days of material from leaders in all walks of life who are making a difference in their worlds. From CEO’s in Fortune 500 companies to pastors at churches serving third world countries, difference makers share what they’ve learned. The messages are riveting, thought provoking and paradigm altering.
A few weeks ago I attended my 6th consecutive Leadership Summit and I can’t get enough. The Global Leadership Summit is for bankers and bakers, day care workers and dog catchers, students and single fathers and/or mothers. It’s for coaches and care givers, musicians and ministers…and YOU!
If you want to make a difference, the Global Leadership Summit is for you!
