Ten years ago, the flood of ’08 wrecked havoc upon the city of Cedar Rapids.

As bad as it was, it could have been worse.

It’s important to remember the heroes of that hour that helped keep our friends and neighbors out of harm’s way. Because of Serve the City, a coalition of evangelical leaders in Linn County, not one life was lost during this disaster.

Take five minutes to remember how God used a band of caring brothers and sisters during one of Eastern Iowa’s darkest hours:

“Thank you Lord for keeping us safe when death and harm was literally, knocking at our doorstep. Thank you Serve the City for opening your hearts to each one in need just a decade ago. Now Lord, we pray that you would continue to make us ready to love our neighbor in all ways possible and to give a reason for the hope within us.” see 1 Peter 3:15

By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another. John 13:35

Something to think about.
