Just over a month ago, the landscape of Eastern Iowa looked much different. What a winter we had this year! Record breaking snowfall and cold snaps that closed schools and businesses alike. Here at Life 101.9 it seemed like keeping the sidewalks clear of snow and ice was a full-time job and “Mount Life 101.9” formed from the hours and hours of snow plowing to keep our driveway clear.
How quickly things have changed. A few weeks of warmer temperatures and sunshine have made quick work of all of that snow. Spring is here! In no time we will be out in our gardens, mowing the lawn and enjoying the beauty of God’s creation.
The Bible tells us that God is in the business of making all things new. That applies to the beauty of his creation as the seasons change, and I am so thankful that it also applies to the work he is doing in you and me as well. I have taken a lot of encouragement from Hebrews 12:1-2 recently. It says:
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith…
As God continues his work in us, each one running the race He has called us to, who wants to move through life with a bunch of heavy weights around our neck? So we ask God to change us, to mold and make us more into His image. With his help, we can cast off the sins and burdens that hold us back, and his “all things new” work continues in you and me.
Welcome to Spring! As you enjoy the beauty of watching God make all things new around you it’s my prayer that God’s work is in full bloom in your life and heart as well.
