A pumpkin because of it’s bland taste (until you add sugar) has to be a vegetable doesn’t it? It’s not sweet or tangy so it can’t be a fruit, right?

Wrong!

A pumpkin is actually a fruit and it’s designation has nothing nothing to do with taste. It’s a fruit because by definition, it has the structure of a fruit.  According to a highly trusted source on the subject, “Fruit, in its strict botanical sense, [is] the fleshy or dry ripened ovary of a plant, enclosing the seed or seeds.” It joins tomatoes, cucumbers and peppers as one of our most misunderstood fruits.

So have you ever been misunderstood?

After all, you’re not like a lot of other people. You march to the beat of a different drummer. Like the pumpkin, it might be said that you have a different “taste” than others.  Facing a difficult situation, you persevere with a heart full of joy and peace because Jesus lives there. People watch in wonder because you don’t grumble or complain.  Instead you let your light shine and others notice.

Growing in faith may cause others to wonder about you. Why are you so happy? How do you keep your cool? How come you don’t act like you used to? etc.

And along the way, we’ll be there for you. Just like we are for Michelle:

“I have listened to Life 101.9 for many years…there are days when the messages really tug at my heart and I realize it’s God talking to me through you guys.  Thank you!”

Thanks to your generous support during Fall Share, we’ll be there to remind you that God loves you no matter what. Oh, and if it makes you feel better, as radio stations go, we’re pretty misunderstood too. Sharing music that’s safe for the whole family is not normal for broadcasters and we happen to like it that way.

So you’re a pumpkin, we’re a tomato. Let’s do “Life” together!

Thanks again for a great Fall Share. Have a pumpkin-spiced October!

Tim
