No doubt, the one liners about 2020 being a year of vision or some similar quip have met your purview by now.

Quips aside, just the fact that it’s 2020 is amazing to me.  Just yesterday it seems, I was buying this fireplace insert to keep the family from freezing should the dawn of a new millenium trigger a failed power grid. Now you’re telling me that that Y2K non-event occurred exactly two decades ago?

It doesn’t seem possible.

Hard to believe but the saying is true. The older we get, the more time flies! The quick passage of time has the potential to create anxiety for us all. How are we to keep up? How are we to maintain balance as we seem to be spinning faster and faster? Whew!

Stop the presses.

With the uncertainties that we face each day, does anyone else find peace in the immutability of our Lord? His Word proclaims that he never changes. Check out just a small sample of verses from the Bible that confirm this fact:

“For I the Lord do not change; therefore you, O children of Jacob, are not consumed.” Malachi 3:6

“If we are faithless, he remains faithful— for he cannot deny himself.” 2 Tim. 2:13

“And also the Glory of Israel will not lie or have regret, for he is not a man, that he should have regret.” 1 Sam. 15:29

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” Hebrews 13:8

The Bible declares that the essence or character of God does not change. It doesn’t mean that he will respond exactly the same way in every situation but who he is, remains the same throughout the ages. You can take it to the bank. God is the same every day for all time. And beyond all time from eternity past to eternity future.

Don’t worry friend. Whether 2020 is your most prosperous year ever, or one fraught with trial and setback, of this you can be assured. God will be with you as a trusted friend. Count on it. Whatever happens, he is working all things together for the good of those that love God and are called according to His purpose. Romans 8:28.

In 2020, may we who are called by His name have the “vision to see God at work” in our lives in new and exciting ways!

Something to think about.
