Here’s today’s medical trivia question.
What infamous virus has historically been far worse than any sickness known to man but seems to be taken far less seriously by many people than it should be now more than ever?
Answer: The “Every man, woman and child death pandemic.” Never heard of it? Maybe your familiar with it’s shorter name. Sin.
No this is not a trick question. Sin is clearly a sickness and it has taken far more lives than any other. The book of Romans tells us that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God and the required payment for our sin is death. But where did it come from?
Truth be told, we really didn’t have a lot of say in matter. As a descendant of Adam, we come by it naturally. That’s why our bias is always self-preservation at the expense of our brother. As it is our natural inclination to sin, we have no capacity to live a life free from it’s pull. No vaccine can prevent us from getting it. No amount of hand washing will keep us safe from it’s death grip.
Fortunately, the “Great Physician” has created an antidote that can bring a dead man back to life and that of course, is faith in Jesus the Son of God. He is the “Second Adam” who nullifies the mortal effects of the first.
So have you taken the antidote yet? It’s as simple as ABC.
- Admit your a sinner, in need of a Savior.
- Believe that Jesus’ sinless life is the only antidote for your condition.
- Confess your sins to the Lord and trust in Jesus to forgive them then make a commitment to follow him from this day forward.
Something to think about.
