When our family moved to Eastern Iowa five years ago, there was a phrase we heard on a regular basis – “Iowa Nice.” We also learned about the importance of the Cy-Hawk game and where to find a good pork tenderloin sandwich! As we settled in, though, we saw how real “Iowa Nice” really is. Neighbors helping neighbors, friends helping friends and yes, even strangers helping strangers. It’s just what we do!
Here at Life 101.9, “Iowa Nice” has been on full display over the last month or so during our annual Share the Love campaign. Each year we encourage our listening family to help support the amazing work that shelters do in Eastern Iowa each day to care for the homeless in our communities. A gift of $15 covers the costs to provide for one person who is homeless to come in from the cold. Just like in year’s past, the Life 101.9 family has answered the call. As we wrap up this year’s Share the Love campaign, a new record-high of 2,605 nights have been sponsored. Thank you!
Over these last few weeks we have seen gifts of all sizes, and many people finding creative ways to get involved. Whether it was bake sales, churches and schools taking up collections, even one family selling some of their recent grain crop, the love and compassion for those less fortunate has been overwhelming.
As I reflect on your amazing generosity, I am reminded of the words of Jesus in Matthew 25, where he says “Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” The Life 101.9 team is incredibly grateful to partner with you to share the love of Jesus in this practical way. While we may never meet those who will be helped by your gifts, God knows each one. We can trust that he will use these resources for His glory!
In Christ,
Matt Deane

I don’t see a link to donate to Share the Love. How do I donate?
Hi Tim! The initiative is over for this year, but we would encourage you to get involved by donating to a shelter in your area. If you need some help finding one, please give us a call.
