JAARS speaker Nard Pugyao - 1st-generation Filipino Christian and retired missionary pilot in Parkersburg, Iowa

7:00 PM - 7:00 PM

Please join us for an evening event with Nard Pugyao. Nard recently retired as one of JAARS’ leading pilots and aviation instructors. Dessert to follow. Mr. Pugyao first encountered the gospel when Bible translator, Dick Roe, came to live and work in the Philippines. Through Roe’s translation work, Nard was able to read the book of Mark in his own language and came to understand that Christ died for him. Before long, Nard felt God’s call to join the Bible translation and aviation work that had resulted in his own transformation. He was a first-generation Christian from a remote village and an unlikely candidate for a missionary pilot/mechanic, but he was able to come to the States and study both Bible and aviation at LeTourneau College and Moody Bible Institute. In 1976, Nard married Sandy, a Wycliffe “MK” (missionary kid), and the newlyweds joined Wycliffe Bible Translators. Two more years of aviation training qualified Nard to be a JAARS pilot/mechanic. Finally returning to Nard’s homeland in 1979, they served eight years, Nard as a JAARS airplane and helicopter pilot/mechanic and Sandy as a teacher. Since returning to the States in the 1980s, Nard has instructed countless future missionary pilots and been a featured speaker and advocate for Bible translation around the world.

JAARS - Making Bible Translation Possible

7:00 PM - 8:00 PM

The public is invited to this free event and hear Special Guest Speaker Nard Pugyao, recently retired as a leading pilot and aviation instructor at JAARS, as he shares his testimony of the affect JAARS has on bible translation. He was directly impacted by the presence of bible translators at his home in the Philippines when they provided him the book of Mark in his own language and he came to understand that Christ died for him. He was a first-generation Christian from a remote village and an unlikely candidate for a missionary pilot-mechanic, but was able to come to the States and study both Bible and aviation. After marriage to his wife Sandy, they joined Wycliffe Bible Translators. Two more years of aviation training qualified Nard to be a JAARS pilot-mechanic and they returned to his homeland to serve for eight years. We hope you will join us for this special evening. Come discover how JAARS makes Bible translation possible and how you can make a difference! (and fellowship with drinks and dessert following)
